Purpose
The Child Safety Initiative (CSI) was designed to prevent cruelty to children and ensure their safety. CSI operates on the principle that every child deserves protection and access to a system that responds effectively to concerns about their well-being.
Alignment with the United Nations
CSI aligns with Goal 16 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
As part of this commitment, CSI contributes to the following key indicators of Target 16.2, which seeks to end abuse, exploitation, trafficking, and all forms of violence against children:
16.2.1 - Proportion of children aged 1–17 years who experienced any physical punishment and/or psychological aggression by caregivers in the past month
16.2.2 - Number of victims of human trafficking per 100,000 population, by sex, age and form of exploitation.
16.2.3 - Proportion of young women and men aged 18–29 years who experienced sexual violence by age 18.
Our Strategy
CSI is positioned to drive change through:
Training – Equipping communities with the knowledge to recognize and respond to child safety concerns through bias-free, objective reporting.
Technology – Developing a national reporting system to streamline non-urgent child abuse and neglect reports while improving efficiency for child protection agencies.
Partnerships – Collaborating to address systemic gaps in child safety.
